Many of our guests - and our pack - have had terrible lives to this point. Some have been fought or used as bait dogs (Frankie), others used as breeders (Mama), some have lost a leg (Brody), others have not received needed medical care (Harmony, KC, Willow) others used as guard dogs or made aggressive through mean pasts (Hippy, Lucky Gabriel) ... all in addition to being blind and often deaf.
So when these doggies learn to love, enjoy petting and play, adapt to living indoors, to walking on a leash and simply to find joy in life that's a time for celebration! Please enjoy some pictures of these special doggies:

Doodles and KC love beddie time!

Doodles and KC are called The Twins because of how similar they are. Doodles is 14 and KC, a shelter rescue, is likely similarly aged. These 2 live together, sleep together, walk together and enjoy each others company. KC is very HW and undergoing treatment so it's good these two remain calm while sleeping much and especially enjoy 'submarining' then sleeping soundly in bed.
Frankie buries his treats

Frankie Sinatra is settling in here, eating well, enjoying being loved on and playing days in his pen. As you can see Frankie is a digger of holes to bury his treats and does return to reclaim them. Frankie is undergoing HW treatment yet is otherwise healthy and learning to expect that people can and will treat him well.
Brody's happy in or out

Brody's thick rich fur allows her comfort from the cold so she enjoys being out most any day. Brody is very healthy, house and leash trained, always happy to see her people and extremely smart and loving. Brody is very loyal and protective of her humans and appreciates (and returns!) all the loving you can spare.
Gretel hates pictures!

This smart German Shepherd girl just despises pictures and will hide and run as far away as possible upon hearing the camera click. Other than that Gretel is very affectionate, easy going, peaceful ... and sighted! Yes, Gretel's Pannis affected only one eye so Gretel appears to see normally.
Hippy and Houdini are The Brothers, a bonding pair!

Talk about an odd couple - Hippy the former drug compound guard dog and Houdini the hunting dog scared of loud noises - yet these two work so well together. Hippy depends on Houdini for his sight yet follows and backs-up his 'brother' Houdini upon any barking. We call these two bonding boys 'The Brothers."
Ginny is not spoiled!

Just because Ginny is fed in her day-bed, allowing her to eat laying down, plus sleeps on the human bed next to Val, does not mean that this ancient senior girl is spoiled! Only means Ginny is shown the respect this old sweetie deserves.
Harmony loves warm places!

This little Kitty Kube is just perfect for Harmony and her blankets to cuddle up in. Harmony prefers up next to her humans - especially if also under a blanket - yet the Kube is a favored second choice.
Natasha is a gentle soul

Natasha appears to have been a breeding Mama and was recovered from what was called an abuse case. Here 'Shasha' is a doggie that appreciates her loving, regular meals, walks well on leash and is house trained. Like Hippy and Gretel, Natasha would be fine spending 24/7 inside yet she's learning to enjoy the breeze and time outside too - for Natasha her time at the shelter and with us is the first time she's seen outside time.
